I would like to first say I am not a Kool-aid drinker and that I make my own decisions, however once I do form an opinion it usually falls to the conservative right. I am a practicing Catholic and attend church at least 2 to 3 times a month which plays a large role in my political stances on issues, and while we are on the subject of religion don't try and convert me. I was raised a Catholic and will die a Catholic unless you can show me PROOF it is not the true religion, but since religion is based on faith you can't so forget it. Below are my stances on a few of the many current events being discussed. I will add more as time permits.

IRAQ

Troop withdraw - The US in in Iraq weather anybody likes it or not and we need to stay until we get the job done and not repeat the mistake we made in withdrawing from Vietnam. Let us also not forget Afghanistan and what happened there after the Soviets withdraw and the country was left in control by Islamic fundamentals, it allowed for the rise of Bin Laden. So rather you agree with the war or not an early withdraw is not an option.

Weapons of mass destruction - If you were a policeman and people starting telling you a guy who had spent time in jail for drug possession had drugs in his house would you raid it, of course!

ENVIRONMENT

Weather changes - Global warming probably has made the 2005 hurricane season but policies of the current administration are not to blame this has been in the works for decades.

Energy production - I think the first step should be to require oil companies to buy at least 10% of there oil from companies mining oil from shale. This will help keep jobs in the US and lessen our dependency on foreign oil. My estimates this would only raise the cost of gas 3 cents per gallon at $2 average price per gallon of gas. Also America needs to build new nuclear reactors for electric productions. If they can build a box that can with stand an airplane crash they can make a box to hold nuclear waste!

Bird flu - I have my surgery mask do you?

ECONOMICS

Taxes on the rich - I don't think taxes should be raised on the wealthiest Americans but the loop holes need to be eliminated, this is includes income from taxes made on stocks. I don't think owning a stock for 20 years and never paying income on the stocks growth is right.

Budget deficit - YES we need to cut the deficit and we need to do it now, which could easily be done if we got rid of the loopholes in the tax code.
